It has been about a month since version 1.1 was released and the amount of traffic and questions I receive has increased quite a lot, which is great! Thanks for sending in feedback and reporting bugs. It really helps in improving the application. If you are new to FlexPaper and don’t know what it is, scroll to the bottom of this page for an example of what it looks like. Find everything...
With the latest release of jQuery (1.4) and with new releases being scheduled to be occurring on a more frequent basis, jQuery has really taken off and is now without a doubt the number one Javascript framework out there.
If you have not started using jQuery yet, then I’d suggest that you get started. It is really a great library...
The weather has been absolutely stunning here in New Zealand around x-mas and NY and while I have been in the water most of the time, I have still managed to spend some time on new features for my open source project FlexPaper. A bunch of minor issues were also resolved.
I dub this version 1.1.
New features / changes:
After a weekend of poor waves I finally managed to get my act together to finish the last bits and pieces on FlexPaper. It is far from perfect but after a bunch of corrections and optimizations (for large docs etc.) it is now ready enough to be considered to be a proper release.

After looking around and mostly finding commercial solutions, I eventually found a pretty neat solution by using Microsoft Mesh together with SVN/Tortoise. The solution is basically...
It can be a bit tricky to see how these two platforms perform against each other in terms of demand, since the word “Flex” is a broad term used in many other job ads than developer jobs and “Silverlight” is a very specific word. Still, after matching both developer and flex/silverlight at Simplyhired,...
I just thought I’d give a heads up on very handy extension of the datagrid and datagridadv which gives you the possibility of having a footer with a sum/avg/whatever function. It was initially developed by Alex and later extended by Doug at the ForestAndTrees blog. Find source code and other examples here.
If you like me are short on time to get into all gazillion posts about all the different features of Flex 4 and would rather just have a free & quick tutorial to quickly browse through the main features, the guide currently developed by Ted is a good place to start.
Its latest chapter on states offers a pretty quick intro...
